Learning of Self

When we live in sin, no matter what it is, we must know and admit that we are powerless without JESUS. We must have a desire to recover from those very addictions, which are sin.

Recovery is not easy, not that it is supposed to be. In fact, recovery is a very grim process. There are some very intense and serious moments, even tears and uncontrollable emotional outbreaks. However, while the process can be all of those things, there is tremendous Peace, laughter, and a resounding Joy that comes once we are on that path.

I feel better now when I feel bad than I used to feel when I felt good because I was miserable living in that dark world of sin and addiction. So what are the "Joys" of this sometimes difficult path to being Free from all bondage, what we call recovery??

There is a tremendous Joy in discovering the heart of GOD. There have been countless times that I have been overwhelmed by HIS GOoDness, Faithfulness and especially HIS Patience with me as I stumbled along the road to Freedom. I've developed a new appreciation for HIS Wisdom revealed in it's time throughout HIS Infallible Word. There are even times I've strayed from HIS Principles and learned the hard way why HE said what HE said.

What a Joy to learn more of HIS Love that passes any measure of our own understanding or knowledge. I cannot count the times that HIS neverending Faithfulness and Forgiving Grace has totally melted my heart. There are wonderful revelations of GOD'S Greatness and GOoDness to be discovered that only those who feel them can truly appreciate. Don't let anyone or anything rob you of that!

There is a Joy in coming to know yourself. How many of us truly don't even know ourselves? Well, once you discover the answer.to this you may be shocked. Until we rediscover who we were Created to be in JESUS CHRIST, we can never understand why we do the things we have done, or do. All of our lives many of us are prisoners of our own self-ignorance and the misery that that generates, not to mention confused and perplexed about our own thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Recovery requires us to find out who GOD truly intended us to be. It sheds light on that darkness, a light that allows us to walk without fear and without stumbling.

There is also a Joy in learning how to be used by GOD and to help others. As we come to understand ourselves, we come into the very Wisdom that shows us how to lead and guide others out of their own darkness.

It is a tremendous Honor and Joy to have another person tell us how thankful they are that we've come into their lives because otherwise they would not know Truth in the Freedom of recovery. GOD works in and through us to set the captives Free.

Dear Heavenly FATHER, Please help me to see beyond the difficulty and the pain to the Joy that is set before me. Grant that the vision of that Joy will spur me on to a greater carefulness and persistence in my Faith Walk for YOUR Glory and also for the GoOD of others. Please LORD, keep me from cheating myself, with self-pity and discouragement, out of the many Blessings that await me. It is in YOUR Precious Name JESUS that I Pray. Amen.
