"Why?" is one of our favorite questions. There are times, however, when we can't find an answer. That is the time we find out what we're made of spiritually.
It's not that any of us find unanswered questions easy to deal with. We look back on the painful things that have happened in our lives, and terrible thoughts sometimes flood our minds. "Why didn't GOD do something?" "Where was HE?" "Did HE care?" "Does HE care?" "How could HE allow me to feel so much pain?" "Why?"
Some of us, unable to get an answer to our gut-wrenching questions, finally decide to turn away from GOD. Forgetting that those who hurt us were disobeying GOD in what they did; forgetting that we would also be destroyed if GOD were to stop all sin by judging all sinners; forgetting that it is HIS Patience and Desire that none who can be saved be lost that causes HIS waiting to execute judgment, we stalk off in sulky anger, and thus leave HIM, Who is our only Hope.
Others of us, equally in the dark about the why’s of our past, determine, by HIS Grace, to Trust HIM and to Trust in HIM. As much as we would like an answer to our perplexities, we realize GOD does not owe us an explanation. HE owes us nothing but judgement and wrath, but instead has Freely given HIS Grace and Mercy.
We are not HIS judges; HE is our Judge. HE does not answer to us; we answer to HIM. Calvary demonstrates beyond any doubts that HE is Love, and we cast ourselves on that Love and drown our questions in that ocean. We know it is good for us to learn to walk by Faith, and so, by Faith, we praise HIM for the Good that only HE can bring out of our troubled past. We stand by HIM, and the storms in our hearts grow quiet with that Peace that passes all understanding. Praise fills our soul.
Which path are you really walking on? The path of angry judgment on GOD, or the road of Trusting HIM who Loves us, and gave HIMSELF for us?
Help me, Dear GOD, to Praise YOU rather than question YOU. Help me to walk by Faith and not to demand sight! Please grant that in all my distresses I may look to The Cross, see YOUR Amazing & Wondrous Love, and say with Job, "Though HE slay me, yet will I trust in HIM!" This is the right path, the True path, the path that leads to Blessing. May I never stray from it, but Praise YOU for all things at all times. In JESUS Name. Amen.
